BOSTON, July 11, 2017— A Dorchester man was ordered held on high bail at his arraignment today in connection with an armed home invasion and kidnapping, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

CESAR LARA AGUASVIVAS (D.O.B. 2/25/94) was arraigned today in West Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of home invasion, kidnapping while armed with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and malicious destruction of property over $250.  Judge Jim Stanton granted a request by prosecutors to revoke Aguasvivas’ bail on an open case charging larceny from a building and imposed $1 million cash bail on the home invasion. Stanton further ordered that Aguasvivas stay away from the location of the offense and from the victim. 

Assistant District Attorney Meghan Joyce told the court that four men armed with handguns entered the adult female victim’s Beaver Street home in the early morning hours of July 6.  The victim was struck with a firearm and held at gunpoint while the men ransacked her home, taking jewelry and other items.

The men allegedly forced the victim and into her vehicle.  Two of the men, one of whom was later identified as Aguasvivas, drove her to a nearby ATM, while others followed in a second vehicle.  Once at the ATM, Aguasvivas allegedly withdrew cash from the victim’s bank account.  Images captured by an ATM security camera were later used in identifying Aguasvivas.

The assailants forced the victim back into her car and drove her to the area of Harvard Avenue where she was left.  After the defendants drove away, the victim flagged down a passing motorist, who called Boston Police.

“We can only imagine the terror the victim suffered during this ordeal,” Conley said. “Her well-being is our foremost concern.”

The victim was transported to Faulkner Hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the attack.

The stolen vehicle was discovered early that afternoon on Alexander Street.

During the course of an ongoing investigation, Boston Police obtained footage from an ATM security camera depicting Aguasvivas with the victim and fingerprint evidence from the scene of the home invasion that Boston Police criminalists matched to Aguasvivas, prosecutors said.  In addition, a white Toyota Corolla registered to Aguasvivas and matching the description of the vehicle used in the home invasion was observed by Boston Police operating in the area of Alexander Street a day after the victim’s vehicle was recovered there.

Aguasvivas is expected to return to court Aug. 3.
