BOSTON, April 26, 2013­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ —A second person has been ordered held without bail in the 2012 stabbing death of 39-year-old Cherby LaJoie, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

TARAYIAH “TIP” HUNT (D.O.B. 1/1/92) of Dorchester was arraigned Wednesday in Dorchester District Court on a charge of murder.  At the request of Assistant District Attorney Craig Iannini, Judge Kenneth Fiandaca ordered Hunt held without bail.

Boston Police arrived in the area of 11 Charles St. in Dorchester just before 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 6 for a report of a person stabbed. On arrival, they found LaJoie suffering from multiple stab wounds to his head and chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing a group of people assaulting the victim, then fleeing in the direction of the Fields Corner MBTA station. Those statements were corroborated by a blood trail leading from the scene into and through the subway station, prosecutors said.  Surveillance images from the station showed a group of four young people running through the station within seconds of the attack.

Investigators linked Hunt to the murder through DNA evidence collected at the scene, the MBTA surveillance footage, and other information developed over the past six months, prosecutors said.  In addition, police received an anonymous tip that a woman nicknamed “Tip” was involved in the murder, prosecutors said.

Hunt is the second person charged in LaJoie’s murder.  ERNEST WATKINS IV (D.O.B. 1/14/98) of Dorchester has remained held without bail since his Oct. 15 Dorchester District Court arraignment on a charge of murder.  An indictment handed down in January by a Suffolk County Grand Jury moved his case from district court to Suffolk Superior Court, where it will be adjudicated.
