2nd Suspect in Custody for Revere Double Homicide

BOSTON, April 1, 2016—Suffolk County District Attorney and Revere Police Chief Joseph Cafarelli today announced that the Everett man sought in connection with the December homicides of 66-year-old Peter Pitari and 38-year-old Cristy Johnson has been captured.

VICHETH SO (D.O.B. 10/25/79) was arrested today after Revere Police, State Police, and US Marshals received information placing So at an East Lyme, Connecticut, hotel. He was taken into custody on a warrant charging him with two counts of murder and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.  He waived extradition during an appearance in New London Superior Court and will be returned to Massachusetts at a later date.

Also today, So’s co-defendant, MICHAEL DeLEON (D.O.B. 4/23/79) of Lynn, faced arraignment in Suffolk Superior Court on two counts of murder and single counts of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm. At the request of Assistant District Attorney David Fredette, Clerk Magistrate Lisa Medeiros ordered DeLeon held without bail.  DeLeon has been held since his Dec. 11 arrest.

Revere and State police responded to 70 Waite St. shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 and located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Pitari and Johnson were each transported to area hospitals and died of their injuries. The third victim, a 38-year-old male, suffered life threatening injuries but survived.

DeLeon is represented by John Cunha. He returns to court May 17.  So is expected to be arraigned in Chelsea District Court upon his return to Massachusetts.
