Active Hit-and-Run Investigation in Revere

A Revere woman was struck and killed by a motor vehicle early this morning in a hit-and-run collision under investigation by Revere Police and State Police homicide detectives assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Sothany Pen, 22, was crossing Lee Burbank Highway from east to west when she was struck by a motor vehicle travelling northbound at about 5:50 this morning. Pen suffered grievous injuries in the collision; the motor vehicle left the scene.

Pen was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Members of the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit, who have jurisdiction over all death investigations in Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop, are actively investigating the incident with the support and assistance of Revere Police detectives. State Police criminalists and crash reconstruction experts are also assisting.

This morning’s hit-and-run is the second in Suffolk County in as many days. A 39-year-old Chelsea man was struck and killed crossing Route 16 in Chelsea at about 12:30 yesterday morning; his death remains under investigation by State and Chelsea police.
