BOSTON, February 15, 2017—The Dedham man charged with killing 31-year-old Marcus Hall at a Mattapan barbershop has been ordered held without bail, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (D.O.B. 10/12/87) of Dedham was arraigned today in Suffolk Superior Court on charges of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm.  At the request of Assistant District Attorney Craig Iannini of the DA’s Homicide Unit, Clerk Magistrate Edward Curley ordered Shakespeare held without bail.

Iannini told the court that Hall had taken a young relative to a Blue Hill Avenue barbershop on June 14.  Shortly after 12:20 p.m., a security camera inside the shop captured Hall and a second man involved in a verbal argument and then walk together out a back door into a parking lot.  Moments later, the door opened again and Hall stood in the doorway.  A brief struggle occurred and witnesses heard gunshots from the parking lot, prosecutors said.

Witnesses found Hall lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

During the course of their investigation, Boston Police detectives and Suffolk prosecutors identified Shakespeare as the man observed arguing with Hall and learned that he had family ties to New York.  He was located in the Bronx on Jan. 31 and placed under arrest by Boston Police, US Marshals, and New York City Police.
