Alleged Stabber Returns to the Scene of the Crime – Drunk

A woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend was arrested after she showed up allegedly intoxicated and shouted at a police officer to move his cruiser so she could park her car, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

DIANE AMBROSO (D.O.B. 10/4/60), who claimed residence in both Revere and Malden, was arraigned yesterday in Chelsea District Court on charges of armed assault with intent to murder a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, operating under the influence as a second offense, and motor vehicle offenses. Prosecutors recommended that she be held on $5000 cash bail; Judge D. Dunbar Livingston set bail at $500.

Revere Police arrived at the victim’s Proctor Avenue home shortly before 6:00 Monday evening for a report of a stabbing. That report was confirmed when the 65-year-old victim responded to an officer’s inquiries as to who was hurt by turning and showing them a large kitchen knife still stuck in his back just above the waistline.

Fearing further injury and blood loss, the officer immediately called for medical assistance and told the victim not to remove the knife. When the officer asked who had stabbed him, the man said his girlfriend had done it.

As emergency medical technicians arrived on scene, the officer’s attention was drawn to a green Ford Taurus that pulled up in front of the building, and more specifically to its operator, who began screaming at the officer to move his marked cruiser so she could park in the driveway.

The victim then identified the woman as his girlfriend, Diane, who had just stabbed him. He recounted an argument inside his residence during which he ran to the kitchen to get away from her, and it was there that she stabbed him. When asked why, the victim said, “Because she was drunk.”

Now believed to be the assailant, Ambroso allegedly refused the officer’s orders to pull over and wait in her car, instead parking it, walking over to the officer, and shouting that she didn’t do anything.

Additional responding Revere Police placed her under arrest, prompting her to announce plans to sue the Revere Police Department. Officers soon noticed that she had an overpowering odor of alcohol on her breath, and an inventory of her car turned up an open 375ml container of Ruble vodka.

Once at the station, Ambroso voiced a strong dislike for the first officer on sceene, referring to him in derogatory and scatological terms. A Revere Police lieutenant directed another officer to conduct the field sobriety tests. That officer asked if she had ever undergone sobriety testing before.
“Several times,” she allegedly replied.

Practice, unfortunately, did not make perfect, and Ambroso allegedly failed every single test. During the final sequence, when instructed to stand on one leg, she complained that her legs were too heavy, then lost her balance.

The victim was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. He was subsequently discharged and is not suffering from any permanent injury.
Ambroso will return to court on Oct. 20.
