B&E Suspect Arraigned after Residents Detain Him for Police

BOSTON, April 23, 2014—A breaking-and-entering suspect got more than he bargained for when the residents of the house he allegedly entered tackled him and held him for Revere Police, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ANTHONY PASCO (D.O.B. 1/18/65) of Chelsea was arraigned today in Chelsea District Court on charges of breaking and entering at night with intent to commit a felony, assault during the commission of an unarmed burglary, larceny over $250, malicious destruction of property over $250, assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon – a shod foot.

Assistant District Attorney Myriam Feliz requested bail of $500,000 and orders that Pasco wear a GPS monitor, stay away from the location of the incident, and have no contact with the victims in the event he is released on bail.  Judge Matthew Nestor imposed $25,000 bail and granted the stay-away and no-contact orders.

According to prosecutors, a man returning home to the Robert Road address shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday found the front door propped open and, shortly after stepping inside, encountered a man wearing a t-shirt pulled up to cover the lower part of his face.  That man, later identified as Pasco, engaged the resident in a physical altercation in which Pasco allegedly kicked the man and the man punched him in the face.

Pasco attempted to flee the house, but once outside he was confronted by another tenant who had come to investigate after hearing the struggle.  The men chased Pasco into the street, took him to the ground, and held him until Revere Police arrived, prosecutors said. Pasco was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment of head and neck injuries sustained in his struggle with the residents. He was released from care this morning. There are no plans to charge the residents in connection with those injuries, prosecutors said.

Police found a cell phone and $60 belonging to one of the victims in Pasco’s pants pockets; they were returned to a resident. Also recovered on the home’s porch were a sweatshirt and a dart case containing two darts. Those items did not belong to any of the known victims.

Pasco is represented by Jeffrey Garland.  He will return to court May 19.
