BOSTON, April 29, 2013—A Chelsea woman with a long list of aliases and two outstanding warrants was arraigned last week on a new charge alleging she robbed a bank, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

JODIE PERKINS (D.O.B. 10/17/67) was arraigned Thursday in Chelsea District Court on a charge of armed robbery.  Assistant District Attorney Christopher Henry requested bail be set at $50,000.  Judge Benjamin Barnes set bail at $1,700 and declined to revoke Perkins bail on two open Chelsea cases in which default warrants had been issued. 

Those 2012 cases charge Perkins with nonviolent misdemeanors, prosecutors said, but her record reflects 19 aliases and phony dates of birth and four prior convictions for armed and unarmed robbery.

Shortly after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Chelsea Police responded to the Metro Credit Union on Broadway, where a woman had handed a teller a note demanding $10,000 in an envelope with no dye packs or GPS device.  The note warned, “You have 2 minutes then I’m blasting,” with the last word underlined three times, according to prosecutors.

Surveillance footage, the note handed to the teller, and other evidence were collected from the scene, prosecutors said.  Based on descriptions of the bandit, Chelsea detectives presented a photo array including Perkins’ photo to the bank teller, who positively identified her as the person who had robbed the bank, prosecutors said.

Hours later, a Chelsea Police detective on routine patrol spotted Perkins and placed her under arrest.

Perkins is represented by Richard Barrett.  She will return to court May 22.
