COMBATANTS, SPECTATORS CHARGED IN FOREST HILLS FRACAS

A half-dozen alleged combatants and spectators were arraigned today in connection with a fight yesterday afternoon at Forest Hills station, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.

Arraigned today in West Roxbury District Court were:

1. ATIO BOTSIO (D.O.B. 10/10/901) of West Roxbury, charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing;

2. TAMARIA TONEY (D.O.B. 3/21/92) of Hyde Park, charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer;

3. TREAVON TREADWAY (D.O.B. 7/29/90) of Roslindale, charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing;

4. STEVEN ULYSSE (D.O.B. 9/8/89) of Mattapan, charged with affray and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute;

5. STEPHEN A. WRIGHT (D.O.B. 1/22/91) of Roxbury, charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing; and

6. A 16-YEAR-OLD MALE from Dorchester, charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing.

Assistant District Attorney Mark Swadling recommended that each of the adult defendants be held on $500 cash bail. West Roxbury District Court Judge Ernest Sarason released them on their own recognizance. Sarason denied motions to revoke Treadway’s bail on an open West Roxbury larceny case and Wright’s bail on an open Dorchester gun case.

A clerk magistrate set the juvenile’s bail at $250 and ordered that, if he posts bail, he stay away from Forest Hills station except when going to or coming from school. That juvenile was also held on a warrant out of the Boston Juvenile Court.

Another 16-year-old Dorchester male is expected to be arraigned Friday on a single count of affray, Conley said.

Boston Police and MBTA Transit Police responded to the Forest Hills MBTA station yesterday afternoon at about 2:45 to find a large crowd of young people gathered to watch a fight involving multiple combatants in the upper and lower levels of the station. Bus service from the station was disrupted because of the large number of people watching the fracas.

Officers observed Botsio, Treadway, and one of the juveniles allegedly yelling, flailing their arms, and challenging one another to fight in the lower busway. Wright, who was present but not part of the outburst, was given a trespassing notice and ordered to leave; he was later taken into custody after being observed in a second altercation elsewhere in the station.

Additional officers broke up a fistfight between Ulysse and the second juvenile in the upper busway. Both suspects were taken into custody. During a search, officers recovered six individually bagged packages of a substance believed to be marijuana in Ulysse’s pockets.

Toney was allegedly part of a group of spectators who were not fighting but whose presence in the busway prevented MBTA buses from departing on their routes. When officers instructed the group to move out of the area, most of them did but Toney allegedly refused. When officers specifically instructed her to leave the area, she allegedly screamed at the officer, pushed him, and attempted to provoke the group.

Toney, Treadway, and Wright were represented today by attorney Davis Bruce and will return to court on Dec. 7. Botsio and Ulysse were represented by attorney Helene Tomlinson and will return to court on Dec. 4. The juvenile was represented by attorney Dmitry Lev and will return to court on Oct. 23.
