CONLEY TO HOST 2ND ANNUAL BASKETBALL TOURNEY

Building on the success of last year’s first-ever Basketball for Peace tournament, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley has again invited kids, teens, and adults to Dorchester for an afternoon of safe, healthy, athletic fun next month.

The second annual tournament will be held at the Lilla G. Frederick Middle School on Feb. 18 – a date selected to coincide with school vacation week. Prosecutors from Conley’s office and other law enforcement and social service partners are expected to take part in the community-building event.

The event grew out of Conley’s annual Soccer for Peace tournament, held for the past seven summers at Dorchester’s Pope John Paul II Field.

“Each August we hold a soccer tournament that brings kids from across Boston and Suffolk County together for an afternoon of teamwork, exercise, and cooperation,” Conley said, “and Basketball for Peace was created with the very same goal in mind. We’re going to bring a little bit of summer and a whole lot of fun to Dorchester this February.”
