DA Conley Launches Law Student Diversity Fellowship

BOSTON, Feb. 11, 2016—As part of his commitment to diversity and inclusion, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley today announced the creation of a diversity fellowship open to law school students interested in serving their community as prosecutors.

Conley’s newly created Diversity Fellowship Program for Law Students is now accepting applications with the goal of welcoming fellows to the office in Summer 2016.  Fellows will be assigned an attorney mentor and will work alongside prosecutors and victim witness advocates in Conley’s office while helping achieve the DA’s mission of serving victims and communities while upholding the highest level of integrity, fairness, and ethics.

“Suffolk County is among the most diverse regions of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and it’s important to me that this diversity is reflected in the prosecutors who serve its communities,” Conley said.  “I take deep pride in the rich variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that Suffolk prosecutors bring with them into the courtroom, and this fellowship has the potential to bring even more service-minded young attorneys into a field where they can really make a difference.”

Up to four law school students with an interest in a career as a prosecutor will be selected throughout the year to join the office for a period of three to five months, which will be spent working alongside prosecutors in one of Conley’s Superior Court trial teams, district or municipal courts, or Appellate Division.  Applicants will be selected based on their academic and personal achievements, commitment to inclusion and public service, leadership abilities, and other qualifications.

Interested candidates can find additional information at http://www.suffolkdistrictattorney.com/diversity-fellowship.  Complete application packets should be submitted by March 25 to be considered for a Summer 2016 fellowship.
