DA’s Ginormous Climb Aiming to Meet Five-Year $500k Goal

BOSTON, April 3, 2018 – District Attorney Dan Conley and his staff are among those lacing up for this weekend’s 5th Annual Ginormous Climb to raise funds for abused, neglected, and exploited kids.
Approximately 350 climbers are expected to take part in the annual vertical charity run up the 60 stories of 200 Clarendon – formerly the John Hancock Tower. With past climbs raising a total of about $400,000 for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County over the past four climbs, organizers hope to crack half a million dollars after Saturday’s event.

The Children’s Advocacy Center is a hub connecting children who have been abused, neglected, or exploited and their non-offending caregivers with more than 25 partner agencies, including prosecutors, police, medical and mental health clinicians, and social service providers. This one-stop service center reduces the number of times a child must disclose the abuse as well as the number of visits they must make to different agencies for services. The CAC’s coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach reduces stress on victims and improves outcomes in their cases.
“Last year alone, more than 1,700 kids were referred to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County, where caring and experienced professionals provided a myriad of services to help them begin to heal,” Conley said. “We all have a role in protecting children in our communities, and supporting the work of the Children’s Advocacy Center is one way that each of us can take a stand against child abuse.”
Those interested in making the climb still have time to register. To learn more about the Ginormous Climb, register as a climber or volunteer, or to make a donation, visit www.ginormousclimb.com. For more information on the CAC, please visit www.suffolkcac.org.
