25,000 REWARD OFFERED IN CLERK’S SLAYING

Tedeschi Food Shops is posting a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting death of 39-year-old Surendra Dangol, the clerk who was fatally shot at the Tedeschi Food Shops convenience store in Jamaica Plain on Dec. 26.

Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced the reward today on behalf of Tedeschi Food Shops, Inc.

“We at Tedeschi Food Shops are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence, and are hopeful that this reward will help to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice, and will no longer pose a threat to others,” said Peter D. Tedeschi, CEO and President of Tedeschi Food Shops, Inc.

Dangol was shot to death the day after Christmas as he worked the 11:00 a.m. to closing shift at the Jamaica Plain convenience store. Surveillance footage from store cameras shows the assailant loitering outside from about 2:30 to about 3:00, possibly speaking to an unidentified witness on a set of benches near a bus stop outside the store.

Investigators are extremely interested in speaking with that witness or anyone else in or near the store between 2:30 and 3:00 on Dec. 26.

The footage shows the gunman entering the store and brandishing a gun. Dangol can be seen complying with the robber’s demands, placing all the money from his cash drawer into the robber’s blue backpack, and being shot to death as he stands still with his hands in the air.

Investigators believe the gunman fled in a white, four-door sedan, possibly a 1986-1992 Plymouth Acclaim, least seen heading toward the Jamaicaway.

Still and video images of the assailant and getaway car can be viewed at www.BPDNews.com.
