Defendant in Brighton Homicide Held without Bail

BOSTON, Nov. 9, 2015—The man accused of gunning down 30-year-old Desmond Joseph on Telford Street last month was ordered held without bail at his arraignment today, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

GAMMADA MUSA (D.O.B. 1/22/90) of Brighton was arraigned in Brighton Municipal Court today on charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm in Joseph’s Oct. 22 shooting death. He was shot multiple times in the area of Telford Street and Soldier’s Field Road at about 11:45 pm and pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on evidence developed in the course of an ongoing investigation, Suffolk prosecutors approved a warrant for Musa’s arrest on Oct. 25. On Friday, with the assistance of tips from the public, the Boston Police Fugitive Unit located him outside Boston and took him into custody.

Musa was represented today by attorney Timothy Bradl. He will return to court on Thursday for the appointment of permanent counsel.
