DORCHESTER MAN INDICTED FOR MURDER AT YMCA

The Suffolk County Grand Jury today indicted a Dorchester teen for allegedly gunning down 19-year-old Aaron Brown at the YMCA on Washington Street last summer, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

The indictments charge SHERMAN BADGETT (D.O.B. 2/23/91) with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm for Brown’s fatal shooting at 776 Washington St. on the night of Aug. 29, 2009.

“Long after a case leaves the headlines, Suffolk prosecutors and Boston Police continue to work their cases,” Conley said. “Sometimes an arrest comes in days or weeks. Sometimes it takes months or years. But they will never give up on a case, a victim, or a grieving family.”

Boston Police arrested Badgett on April 5 after investigators developed sufficient evidence in the grand jury to charge him with murder. He is currently held without bail and is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on June 10.
