DORCHESTER YOUTH IN CUSTODY FOR MAY HOMICIDES

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis today announced the arrest of a Dorchester teen for the May 13 shooting death of 49-year-old Fred Bing.

Boston Police homicide detectives this morning arrested DAMANTE BURRELL (D.O.B. 9/5/92) on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. Burrell was identified as a suspect in Bing’s homicide during a two-month investigation in the Suffolk County Grand Jury, which indicted Burrell yesterday.

Bing died of multiple gunshot wounds, including one that went through his lung. His body was recovered early on May 14 in a driveway on Wilcock Street in Mattapan, where gunshots were reported the previous night. Bing had been on the sidewalk talking with friends, who after the shots thought he had simply gone home.

Burrell is expected to be arraigned early this afternoon in Suffolk Superior Court.
