Drug Offender, Living at Recovery Program, Faces New Drug Charges

BOSTON, July 11, 2012—A resident at a substance abuse recovery home was held on high bail at his arraignment this week on drug charges he incurred while on probation for two previous drug convictions, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

RONALD DOOLEY (D.O.B. 1/26/62) was arraigned Monday in Dorchester District Court on three counts of possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance and one count each of possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance as a subsequent offense, possession with intent to distribute a Class C substance, and possession of a Class E substance. Judge Kenneth V. Desmond set bail at $15,000, the amount recommended by Assistant District Attorney Gretchen Sherwood.

Desmond also ordered Dooley held without bail pending a hearing to determine whether he will be surrendered on his open probation for a pair of 2011 convictions for possession of a Class B substance.

Members of the Boston Police Department Drug Control Unit on Saturday afternoon executed a search warrant at the Bakersfield Street scene, a live-in home for individuals recovering from substance abuse. After reading Dooley his Miranda rights, the officers asked if Dooley had any drugs, to which he allegedly responded in the negative but then stated that he did have some “percs” in his gym bag.

During the search that followed, officers found more than 170 muscle relaxants and painkillers, including Methadone, Suboxone, Oxycodone, and Cyclobenzaprine. They also recovered a 100mg vial of Trenbolone Acetate, a steroid, and numerous whole and cut-off plastic baggies.

Dooley was represented by Attorney Jessica Tripp. He will return to court on Aug. 8.
