Early Morning Storrow Crash Under Investigation

State Police assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office and the Brighton barracks are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left two men with grievous injuries this morning.

At about 4:15 a.m., State troopers responded to the area of Storrow Drive eastbound near the off-ramp to Kenmore Square to find a white Infinity engulfed in flames on the median strip, where it had collided with a tree. Troopers attempted to remove its occupants – a 27-year-old driver and his 29-year-old brother, both North Andover men – but were unable to do so.

Boston Fire Department personnel responded to extinguish the blaze and were able to extricate both men using the Jaws of Life. The operator was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital and the passenger to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Both men were in critical condition and suffering from burn and trauma injuries; the latest word from medical personnel is that their conditions have stabilized.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Crime Scene Services. State Police have jurisdiction over state roadways and waterways within the City of Boston.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817.
