Fourth Man Charged in December Homicide

BOSTON, March 3, 2014—A Hyde Park man was ordered held without bail for the December shooting death of 25-year-old Romeo McCubbin, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

ANDREW “SPOILERS” ROBERTSON (D.O.B. 06/09/1976) was arraigned today in Dorchester District Court on a charge of murder following his arrest Friday by Boston Police.

At the request of Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum, Judge Franco Gobourne ordered Robertson held without bail.

Robertson is the fourth person charged in connection with McCubbin’s shooting death.  OMAR BONNER (D.O.B. 8/2/87) of Hyde Park and OMAR DENTON (D.O.B. 5/9/84) of Milton, were arrested shortly after the shooting, and a third co-defendant, JAVAINE WATSON (D.O.B. 10/11/90) of Dorchester, was arrested in January.  All are held without bail.

Polumbaum told the court that on Dec. 14 McCubbin attended a Jamaican music festival in Mattapan, as did Robertson and his co-defendants.  After leaving the event, McCubbin was sitting in a vehicle on Haverlock Street at about 1:45 a.m. when Robertson approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and shot the victim multiple times, prosecutors said.  McCubbin ended up on the sidewalk, where prosecutors said he was shot and kicked in the head by Bonner and Denton.

Robertson then fled the area in a vehicle driven by Watson, which was later found abandoned prosecutors said.  Investigators recovered Watson’s cell phone and both defendants’ fingerprints inside the vehicle, prosecutors said.

Robertson is represented by attorney Marjorie Tynes.  He will return to court on April 3.
