Grand Jury Indicts Alleged Gunman in Dorchester Homicides and Earlier Collision

New Charges Against Three Others for Actions Allegedly Taken After Shootings

BOSTON, Dec. 8, 2017—The Suffolk County Grand Jury today returned indictments charging a Dorchester man with the murders of Scott M. Stevens, Jr., and Michaela Gingras, and it brought new charges against three others who allegedly lied to investigators or took other steps in the aftermath of those homicides, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.

The indictments charge LANCE HOLLOMAN (D.O.B. 1/12/87) with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly using a rented Jeep Renegade to ram a sport-utility vehicle on the southbound side of the Zakim Bridge at about 4:50 pm on Sept. 10.

The indictments also charge Holloman with two counts of first-degree murder. The first reflects the fatal shooting of Scott M. Stevens, Jr., on Route 93 southbound at about 5:10 pm. Prosecutors allege that Holloman shot the 32-year-old Stevens from the rented Jeep, killing him, as Stevens and a 54-year-old family member were riding home on a pair of motorcycles.

The second reflects the fatal shooting of Michaela Gingras, 24, whom investigators believe was a passenger in the rented Jeep at the time of the Zakim Bridge collisions and Stevens’ fatal shooting. She was found deceased inside a Santuit Street residence several hours later.

The indictments further charge Holloman with armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly shooting Stevens’ relative during the Route 93 incident; this man was injured but survived.

The Grand Jury also indicted MONICKA STINSON, 37, of Dorchester with misleading an investigator for allegedly lying to Boston Police about her contact with Holloman in the hours following the homicides. Stinson was an employee of the Boston Police Department at the time of the homicides and her statements, and prosecutors allege that she was aware Holloman was being sought in connection with the case. She surrendered to Boston Police this evening.

The Grand Jury additionally indicted Holloman’s sister, LATOYA HOLLOMAN, 36, under the state’s witness intimidation statute for allegedly instructing the witness who rented the red Jeep Renegade used in the Zakim Bridge collisions and Route 93 shootings to report the vehicle stolen.

Finally, the Grand Jury returned an additional indictment charging Holloman’s mother, DAPHNE HOLLOMAN, 53, with misleading an investigator. She placed a 911 call for shots fired inside the family’s Santuit Street home at about 10:20 pm and told Boston Police homicide detectives that she called within minutes of hearing gunfire. Based on additional evidence gathered in the course of the investigation, however, investigators believe the shots were fired hours before the call.

The Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit and Boston Police Homicide Unit jointly investigated the case with the assistance of the BPD Anti-Corruption Unit on matters related to Stinson’s indictment. Holloman has been in custody since Sept. 11, when he was taken into custody by Franklin Police on outstanding warrants after crashing Daphne Holloman’s Chrysler 200 in Franklin. He is expected to be arraigned Thursday in Suffolk Superior Court. His co-defendants are expected to be arraigned at later dates.

Assistant District Attorney Masai King, chief of the DA’s Major Felony Bureau, led the grand jury investigation resulting in today’s indictments. Elise McConnell and Erin O’Connor are the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocates.
