Grand Jury Indicts Three in Deliveryman’s Slaying

The Suffolk County Grand Jury today returned indictments charging three suspects with first-degree murder and other offenses connected to the fatal stabbing of 58-year-old Richel Nova in a vacant Hyde Park home two months ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The indictments charge ALEXANDER GALLETT (D.O.B. 4/28/92) of Hyde Park; his girlfriend, YAMILEY MATHURIN (D.O.B. 2/25/93) of Mattapan, and MICHEL ST. JEAN (D.O.B. 8/3/90) of Hyde Park with first-degree murder, armed robbery, and breaking and entering for the incident that claimed Nova’s life shortly after midnight on the morning of Sept. 3.

Gallett, Mathurin, and St. Jean are expected to face arraignment in the Magistrate’s Session of Suffolk Superior Court tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.

The three allegedly called for a pizza delivery to an empty residential building at 742 Hyde Park Ave. on the night of Sept. 2. Nova was stabbed to death after making that delivery. He suffered fatal injuries to his chest, back, and throat and was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. His assailants stole the food, his cash, his keys, and his vehicle, which they allegedly used to make their escape.

The three were arrested on the night of Sept. 3 after round-the clock efforts by Boston Police homicide detectives, Suffolk prosecutors, and partnering law enforcement agencies. They were arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on Sept. 7 and have been held without bail since that time.

Catherine Rodriguez is the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocate. Gallett, Mathurin, and St. Jean are represented by attorneys Peter Krupp, Steven Sack, and Robert Jubinville, respectively.
