Grand Jury Returns Indictments in South Boston Double Murder

BOSTON, June 29, 2017—The Suffolk County Grand Jury has returned indictments charging a Chelsea man with two counts of murder and other offenses in the stabbing deaths last month of Richard Field and Lina Bolanos, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The indictments, returned yesterday, charge BAMPUMIM TEIXEIRA (D.O.B. 10/17/86) with two counts each of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping by confinement, and one count of armed home invasion for the incident inside the victims’ home on the night of May 5.

Boston Police encountered Teixeira inside the victims’ Dorchester Avenue residence after responding to two calls reporting an armed gunman in the 11th floor apartment. While conducting a protective sweep of the darkened residence, they came upon an unknown person – later identified as Teixeira – wearing dark clothing. Believing this person either pointed or fired a weapon at them, two officers discharged their own weapons, injuring him. The officers provided first aid to Teixeira outside the apartment, where he allegedly stated that another person would open fire on the officers if they went back inside.

Teixeira was transported to the hospital and a Boston Police entry team was called to the scene. They secured the residence and found both Bolanos and Field deceased with multiple traumatic injuries. Inside the apartment near the front door, homicide detectives found a black backpack full of jewelry; just outside the doorway were a knife and a second bag containing a replica firearm and personal property belonging to the victims, prosecutors said.

Teixeira was arraigned at Tufts Medical Center on May 8. He has been held without bail since that time.

Suffolk Chief Trial Counsel John Pappas led the grand jury investigation. Katherine Moran and Catherine Rodriguez are the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocates. Teixeira is represented by attorney Steven Sack. His arraignment has not yet been scheduled.
