BOSTON, October 6, 2017— Two men face life in prison after they were found guilty today in the murder of 17-year-old D’Andre King-Settles, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury this morning found ENRIQUE AUCH (D.O.B. 4/9/1997) and TSUNAMI ORTIZ (D.O.B. 12/21/1998) guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of armed assault in the 2015 shooting on Annunciation Road that killed King-Settles and wounded two others.  Auch and Ortiz had been indicted for first-degree murder.

At their sentencing Tuesday morning, both men face the mandatory term for second-degree murder of life in prison with the possibility of parole.

During the course of the week-long trial, Assistant District Attorney Catherine Ham of the DA’s Homicide Unit presented evidence and testimony to prove that King-Settles and two companions had just exited an Annunciation Road building on the afternoon of Dec. 18, 2015, when shots were fired at the group from behind.  King-Settles suffered fatal gunshot wounds, while a second victim was grazed by a bullet.

A security camera inside the building captured footage of two people later identified as the defendants enter, leave, and then return shortly before the victims arrived.  They are then captured following the victims from the building immediately before shots were fired. Witness statements, phone records, and additional evidence gathered by Boston Police homicide detectives on the street and Suffolk prosecutors in the grand jury led to Ortiz’ arrest in February 2016 and Auch’s arrest one month later.

Elise McConnell is the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocate.  Auch is represented by Michael Phelan and Ortiz by John Galvin.  Sentencing before Judge Mitchell Kaplan will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in courtroom 907 of Suffolk Superior Court.
