Gun, Drug Charges Follow Search Warrant in Floyd Street Drug Investigation

BOSTON, May 6, 2015—A Dorchester man was arraigned today after Boston Police recovered drugs and firearms during a search of his home, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

JESU SIERRA (D.O.B. 5/20/80) was arraigned today in Dorchester Municipal Court on two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and single counts of unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a high capacity feeding device, and possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance.  Assistant District Attorney Andrew Kettlewell requested that Sierra be held in lieu of $10,000 bail and that his bail be revoked in a March case out of Roxbury Municipal Court charging distribution of a Class A substance.  Judge Lisa Grant released Sierra on his own recognizance and declined to revoke his open bail.

During the course of a drug investigation, Boston Police officers on April 28 approached an apartment at 20 Floyd Street that had been identified as a location where drug distribution allegedly occurred.  As an individual inside opened the door, officers immediately smelled the strong odor of unburnt marijuana and observed in plain view cut plastic baggies consistent with those used to package drugs for distribution, prosecutors said.

Officers secured the apartment and obtained a warrant to search the residence.  During the execution of that search warrant, officers discovered approximately $5,858 in a bedroom that also contained personal papers belonging to Sierra.  Two firearms – a Smith and Wesson 9 mm and a Glock .45 caliber – were located in a second bedroom along with 179 rounds of ammunition; officers also recovered heroin, scales, and empty baggies.

The sole person inside the apartment, RUDDY TEJEDA (D.O.B. 10/30/87) of Dorchester, was placed under arrest on a default warrant out of Middlesex Superior Court in a case charging assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Officers sought a warrant for Sierra, who lists the address as his residence, and JUAN CARLOS ANDUJAR (D.O.B. 6/23/84) of East Boston, whom officers had previously observed leaving the apartment to take part in what officers believed to be drug transactions.  Andujar was observed exiting the building later that day and placed under arrest.  Sierra walked into court this morning on the warrant.

Sierra returns to court May 27.
