HIGH BAIL FOR ALLEGED PERPETRATORS OF DOWNTOWN CROSSING STABBING

Four men and one juvenile were held on high bail yesterday at a district court arraignment for their alleged roles in the August 7 non-fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old Dorchester man on the platform of the Downtown Crossing MBTA Station, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

DEMETRIUS AARON (D.O.B. 12/02/1992) of Dorchester, DAVID AMADIN (D.O.B. 1/24/1992), MICHAEL CAMPBELL (D.O.B. 1/05/1993), and JORDAN CAMPBELL (D.O.B. 1/10/1992), all of Roxbury, were arraigned in the Central Division of the Boston Municipal Court and each charged with assault and battery, armed robbery, and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for their alleged roles in the incident. Boston Municipal Court Judge Michael Coyne set bail for each defendant at $100,000.

A 15-YEAR-OLD JUVENILE (D.O.B. 10/11/1994) of Roxbury was arraigned for the same offenses in the Boston Juvenile Court, where a $5,000 bail was imposed, and he was ordered held on a Department of Youth Services detainer.

Assistant District Attorney Vincent DeMore told the court that at approximately 8:30 p.m. on August 7, MBTA Transit Police Department officers, Boston Police officers and Boston Emergency Medical Services responded to the southbound Orange Line platform at Downtown Crossing for a call reporting a person who had been assaulted with a knife. A responding MBTA Transit Police officer found the victim bleeding from multiple stab wounds.

The victim was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment. DeMore told the court that the most serious stab wound stretched from the victim’s sternum to his waist.

Prior to the stabbing, DeMore said, the victim was sitting on a bench on the platform, when he was approached by the defendants. One of the defendants allegedly kicked the victim in the head before all five began to kick and punch the victim. During the course of the attack, a knife was produced, and the victim was held down and stabbed five times before the group fled, taking an Apple iPhone from the victim.

The defendants were subsequently identified and apprehended later that evening by MBTA Transit officers who observed a group matching the suspects’ descriptions on Huntington Avenue.

Aaron is represented by attorney Kristina Schmelz; Amadin by attorney Susan Neff; Michael Campbell by attorney Kevin Kirby; and Jordan Campbell by attorney Pamela Morris. They are expected to return to court on August 20. The Juvenile is represented by attorney Courtney Harmon, and will return to court on August 19.
