BOSTON, Nov. 30, 2012—Two men were held on high bail today following their arraignments for a Brighton housebreak that investigators believe was intended to be a drug robbery, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Acting on a request by Assistant District Attorney Luke Goldworm, Brighton District Court Judge David T. Donnelly imposed bail of $100,000 on RICARDO DELICE (D.O.B. 5/25/94) of Brockton and LEON McKOY (D.O.B. 10/8/93) of Dorchester. Donnelly also ordered both men to wear GPS monitoring devices and stay away from the victims, witnesses, and co-defendants in the case if they post bail.

Both men are charged with home invasion and armed assault in a dwelling for a Nottinghill Road incident early on the morning of Nov. 24. In that case, a teenager woke up at about 2:30 a.m. to find four men in his residence. One of them held a knife to him and demanded money and “weed.” The teenager told them that he had none and, when asked who else was home, said that his parents were also in the residence.

The men spoke briefly among themselves before agreeing that “We should get out of here.”

The men fled and the teenager woke his parents, who called Boston Police. Officers responded to the area, took their statements, and broadcast the suspects’ descriptions. About half an hour later, additional officers stopped Delice, McKoy, PETER MATTHEWS (D.O.B. 6/30/94) of Brighton, and ANTHONY GILBERT (D.O.B. 7/15/93) of Allston, all of whom matched the general description of the intruders, in the area of 1575 Commonwealth Ave. Officers performed a field interview, taking their identifying information and making a note of their clothing, but did not have sufficient evidence to charge them They were released without being taken into custody.

Based on evidence developed in the days that followed, however – including evidence recovered during the execution of search warrants at Gilbert’s and Matthews’ homes – detectives arrested the four today. Gilbert and Matthews were not able to be arraigned today and are instead expected to be arraigned Monday in Brighton District Court.

Attorney Richard Dyer represented Delice and McKoy for bail purposes only. They will likely be appointed new counsel on Dec. 5 when they return to court.
