Jury Acquits in Samoset Street Homicide

BOSTON, Dec. 12, 2013—A Suffolk Superior Court Jury late today acquitted a Roxbury man charged with the 2010 homicide of 54-year-old Victor Brookens.

LUIS PIMENTEL (D.O.B. 2/19/93) had been charged with first-degree murder for Brookens’ shooting death inside his own Samoset Street apartment. Brookens was found dead of gunshot wounds on Dec. 6, 2010.

During seven days of testimony, prosecutors had sought to prove that Pimentel pulled a gun on Brookens and shot him during a drug deal. The evidence included an eyewitness identification and testimony from witnesses who said Pimentel confessed to the crime. Jurors deliberated for about two full days.

Pimentel was represented by attorney Jamie Sultan.
