JURY SELECTION EXPECTED IN ELDER’S GRUESOME STABBING DEATH

Jury selection is expected to start today for a Roxbury man charged with stabbing 64-year-old Richard Stroman more than 20 times, killing him and leaving his remains to be discovered five days later.

LARRY NELSON (D.O.B. 1/5/58) is charged with first-degree murder for Stroman’s homicide, which prosecutors say took place in the victim’s Elm Hill Avenue apartment on the afternoon of Oct. 7, 2007.

On Oct. 12, 2007, neighbors noticed that they had not seen Stroman for some time and began to detect a strong odor coming from his apartment. When Boston Police gained entry to the residence, they found the man lying dead in his hallway. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to his face, neck, chest, and back.

Nelson was arrested on April 4, 2008, after a far-reaching investigation by Boston Police homicide detectives developed physical and trace evidence pointing to Nelson as a suspect.

Assistant District Attorney Gretchen Lundgren is trying the case. Nelson is represented by attorney John Palmer. Judge Judith Fabricant will preside over the case in courtroom 817 of Suffolk Superior Court.
