Kroc Center to Host DA’s Annual Basketball Tourney

The state-of-the-art Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Dorchester will host Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s annual Basketball for Peace tournament next week, welcoming kids and teens from across the area for a day of healthy fun with the law enforcement officials who protect them.

Conley’s annual Basketball for Peace tournament will be held at the Kroc Center on Feb. 23. Now in their fourth year, the games bring urban youth together with prosecutors, victim advocates, civilian investigators, and others from the DA’s office. Also on hand are local police, non-profit groups, and social service providers.

This year’s teams include youngsters from the Bromley Heath Tenant Management Corporation; the Condon Community Center in South Boston; the Dorchester Youth Collaborative; the Revere Police Athletic League; the Salvation Army’s Bridging the Gap program in the South End and Lower Roxbury; and the Teen Center at St. Peter’s in Dorchester.

Beginning a new tradition, Conley will be welcoming four honorary team captains from the community, with each being recognized with an award denoting his or her status as a role model for city youth.
Basketball for Peace will be held on Feb. 23 at the Kroc Center, located at 650 Dudley St. Media are welcome to attend.
