Livery Cab Driver Guilty in Sexual Assault on Passenger

BOSTON, Sept. 22, 2015—A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted a livery cab driver of kidnapping, raping, and stealing from a female passenger last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

Jurors deliberated for approximately three hours before finding SAID SAID (D.O.B. 2/3/74) a.k.a HASHI K. SAID of Quincy guilty of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, indecent assault and battery, assault and battery, larceny from a person, and improper use of a credit card over $250.  He faces sentencing Oct. 1.

During a nearly weeklong trial, Assistant District Attorney Amy Martin of the DA’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Unit presented evidence and testimony to prove that, shortly after midnight on June 22, 2014, the 25-year-old victim was in the area of 270 Northern Ave. when she flagged down a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with livery plates driven by Said.

With the victim inside the vehicle, the evidence proved, Said drove to a deserted location – believed to be near the South Boston postal facility – where he sexually assaulted her.  The victim testified that she fought back.  Said then stole the victim’s iPhone, debit and credit cards, and cash before driving her to the area of 120 State St.  The victim fled the vehicle and was transported to Boston Medical Center.

Hours later, Martin established, Said used the victim’s debit and credit cards to make purchases at a Quincy gas station and Dorchester pharmacy, where he was captured in store surveillance images.  Boston Police took him into custody in South Boston two days later on June 24.

Sexual assault can happen to anyone. While the victims of any crime are asked to call 911 in an emergency, the survivors of sexual violence in Suffolk County can also call the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center’s 24-hour hotline at 800-841-8371. The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center provides medical advocacy, legal services, counseling, and other services to victims of rape and sexual assault.

Kerry Kolditz is the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocate.  Said is represented by Jack Cunha.
