Lynn Man Charged in South End Double Stabbing

A Lynn man was held on $25,000 cash bail today following his arraignment for allegedly stabbing two men in Boston’s South End late last night, sending both to area hospitals, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

JOSE R. SORIANO (D.O.B. 2/23/91) was charged this morning in Boston Municipal Court with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly stabbing two Cambridge men, one 22 and the other 26, on Huntington Avenue shortly before 11:30 p.m. Special Assistant District Attorney Sarah Solomon recommended that Soriano be held on $250,000 cash bail; Judge Annette Forde set bail at $25,000.

Boston Police responded to the area of 120 Huntington Ave. for a report of a person stabbed and found the two victims being treated by emergency medical technicians. The 22-year-old victim was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in critical condition and the 26-year-old victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in stable condition.

Witnesses told police that the victims were on Huntington Avenue with the 22-year-old victim preparing to leave in a taxi. At that time, the 26-year-old victim and others in the group were approached by a group of young men who demanded to know where they were from. When the 22-year-old victim went to assist his friend, the group of young men set upon the two of them and Soriano allegedly stabbed both victims multiple times.

When the victims’ group entered the taxi to flee, the assailants surrounded it and began banging on the hood. The driver sped down Huntington to the area of Harcourt Street, where the more seriously-injured victim fell out. That was the scene to which Boston Police responded. The assailants, meanwhile, had fled in the direction of West Newton Street.

Boston Police detectives undertook multiple interviews through the night and identified Soriano as the alleged stabber. He was positively identified and taken into custody.

Soriano was represented by attorney Tracy Dudevoir. He will return to court on July 28.
