MAN CHARGED FOR ALLEGED DRIVING DISPUTE STABBING

A Roxbury man was arraigned today in the Central Division of the Boston Municipal Court and held on high bail for allegedly stabbing another man on Saturday morning following an apparent driving-related dispute, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

JUAN C. ALEJANDRO (D.O.B. 9/5/77) was charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly stabbing a 26-year-old man on Kneeland Street after the two men exited their cars and became engaged in an altercation.

In requesting $75,000 cash bail, Assistant District Attorney Gregory Henning noted that while the victim is expected to survive his injuries, his neck was so badly sliced that he had to undergo a lengthy surgery to repair a major blood vessel, requiring him to be placed in a medically induced coma.

District Court Judge Michael J. Coyne imposed the Commonwealth’s recommended bail.

Henning told the court that at about 3 a.m. on August 7, a Boston Police officer assigned to District A-1 responded to the area of 150 Kneeland St. after receiving a call for a noise complaint. Shortly after arriving, that officer heard vehicle tires screeching and observed a black Cadillac Escalade driving on Kneeland Street swerve in front of a gray BMW. That officer also observed the male drivers in each vehicle to be yelling at each other from their vehicles.

The responding officer got into his cruiser to activate his lights and siren, when he saw the victim exit the Cadillac and confront the defendant, who had exited from the BMW. As the officer drove down the street to where the two men were engaged in a physical confrontation, Henning said, the officer saw Alejandro holding an object – later identified as a knife – in his right hand, making punching and slashing movements in the direction of the victim’s face, neck and chest.

When the officer ordered Alejandro to drop the knife, he tossed it over his shoulder, claiming it wasn’t his, Henning told the court.

Alejandro was placed under arrest and the victim was rushed to Tufts Medical Center for treatment.

Alejandro was represented by attorney Peter Lemire. He is expected to return to court on September 1.
