Man Charged with Gun Offenses amid Homicide Investigation

BOSTON, Nov. 7, 2014—A Roxbury man was held on $10,000 cash bail today following his arraignment on a raft of firearms offenses stemming from the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Darison Pujols in Hyde Park, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

TROY J. ADAMS (D.O.B. 8/25/60) was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and single counts of unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a high-capacity feeding device, and unlawful possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Pujols, a resident of Dorchester, was shot inside the apartment of a Margaretta Drive resident on the night of Nov. 4. The evidence gathered by Boston Police homicide detectives and Suffolk prosecutors since that time suggests that Pujols broke into the residence. Adams, who was present inside the apartment, was armed. Pujols and Adams both sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter that followed. Pujols was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he died of his injury. Adams was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and survived.

After he was discharged from the hospital, Adams was brought to Boston Police headquarters for an interview. As a result of statements made during that interview and the execution of a search warrant at the Margaretta Drive residence, Adams was placed under arrest on gun charges only. The investigation remains ongoing as of today.

Adams was represented by attorney Thomas Karp. He will return to court on Dec. 17.
