Man Charged with Murder in Friend’s Stabbing Death

BOSTON, July 6, 2017—A Dorchester man was held without bail following his arraignment for allegedly stabbing his longtime friend to death during an argument yesterday evening, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

STEVEN R. WHITE (D.O.B. 6/29/56) was charged in Dorchester Municipal Court with one count of murder for the homicide of 51-year-old Nathaniel Dix. Judge Jonathan Tynes ordered him held without bail.

Assistant District Attorney Craig Iannini told the court that White and Dix were outside White’s Intervale Street home yesterday evening at about 5:30 when they became involved in an argument. At some point, the preliminary investigation suggests, a third party physically intervened when that argument became heated.

Shortly after that intervention, however, White allegedly produced a knife. A witness reported that White raised the knife above his head and stabbed Dix with it, causing a fatal injury, prosecutors said. White remained at the scene and, in a post-Miranda statement, allegedly gave an account in which Dix walked or lunged into the knife, Iannini told the court.

Attorney Christopher Belezos represented White today. The case will return to court on Aug. 4.
