Man Sentenced in Greenway Stabbings

A Dorchester man has been sentenced to two and a half years in state prison for stabbing two associates during an altercation on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Chinatown last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

TROY BRISON (D.O.B. 1/13/65) pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon – a knife – for the May 14, 2010, incident near the intersection of Essex Street and Surface Road.

Had the case proceeded to trial, Assistant District Attorney Philip O’Brien of Conley’s Senior Trial Unit would have introduced evidence and testimony to prove that Brison was accosting people in the area that evening. Among those people were a 40-year-old Chelsea man whom Brison knew; also nearby was a 40-year-old Roxbury man whom Brison also knew.

At about 6:20 p.m., the evidence would have shown, Brison and the Chelsea man exchanged words in a verbal altercation. In the moments that followed, he and the Roxbury man suffered minor stabbing injuries at Brison’s hand.

Two Boston Transportation Department employees witnessed the incident and assisted responding Boston Police in identifying Brison, who tried to hide by ducking behind some bushes. After a short chase and standoff, the officers convinced Brison to drop the knife and took him into custody.

Brison represented himself during the plea with the assistance of attorney Anthony Annino.
