Murder Indictment in Fatal Stabbing at Restaurant

BOSTON, Nov. 28, 2014— The Suffolk County Grand Jury this week indicted a Quincy man has for first-degree murder for fatally stabbing 31-year-old Gerald Williamson as he attempted to walk away from their verbal confrontation, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced today.

The first-degree murder indictment was returned Wednesday against EDGARDO CLARK (D.O.B. 5/25/85). Clark has been held without bail since his Oct. 21 arraignment in Dorchester Municipal Court in connection with Williamson’s murder.

According to prosecutors, Williamson and Clark were strangers when they began to exchange words inside a Bowdoin Street Chinese restaurant shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16. Williamson left the restaurant, but Clark followed him outside and began a physical altercation. When Clark pulled out a knife during the confrontation, Williamson withdrew from the fight and started to walk away. Clark stabbed Williamson in the neck from behind and fled, prosecutors said.

Williamson was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Clark was identified through surveillance images and witness statements and surrendered himself in to Boston Police.

The grand jury proceedings leading to Clark’s indictment were led by Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum. Timothy Munzert is the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocate. Clark is represented by Brad Bailey. A Superior Court arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.
