Needham Man is Latest Child Pornography Defendant

A Needham man whose former employers found disturbing images on his one-time work computer was arraigned today on multiple child pornography charges, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel f. Conley said.

KEITH L. MILLAN (D.O.B. 2/14/57) was arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on five counts of possessing child pornography. Assistant District Attorney Joseph Pagliarulo recommended that he be held on $100,000 cash bail and recommended an order barring him from using a computer and having any contact with children under 16. Judge Mary Ann Driscoll set bail at $25,000 and imposed both orders, with the exception that the Department of Children and Families will decide whether he may see his own children.

Millan’s former employers last year discovered pornography on a Dell Inspiron laptop computer, Seagate external hard drive, and three compact discs the Millan had used but the company owned. As a result, the Boston-based property management company terminated his employment.

Later, while reconfiguring the computer, the former employers discovered additional images they believed to be specimens of child pornography. They then notified Boston Police, who obtained a warrant to search its contents.

Boston Police detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit and New England Electronic Crimes Task Force undertook a comprehensive forensic examination of the computer, which led to the recovery of more than 100 photograph and video files depicting adults engaging in explicit sexual activity with young boys and girls.

“These were disturbing, violent images,” Conley said. “Even investigators familiar with cases of this nature found them extremely upsetting.”

Based on the forensic exam, Boston Police obtained a warrant for Millan’s arrest and, with the assistance of Needham Police, took him into custody at his home yesterday afternoon. He posted $1,000 and walked into court today.

Millan is represented by attorney Joseph Monahan. He will return to court on March 9.
