New Jersey Fugitive Held Following Brighton Arraignment

In Separate Brighton Case, Hit and Run Driver Held on High bail

BOSTON, Sept. 5, 2017—An East Boston man was held without bail following his arraignment as a fugitive from murder charges out of New Jersey, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

FRANCISCO CARLOS RAMIRES (D.O.B. 12/30/96), a.k.a. CARLOS CAMPOS, was arraigned in Brighton Municipal Court on a complaint charging him as a fugitive from justice in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Assistant District Attorney Alyssa Tochka told the court that Ramires was also in default on a 2016 East Boston Municipal Court case charging him with malicious destruction of property.

Arraigned with Ramires were two young men with him at the time of his arrest. HENRI SALVADOR-GUTIERREZ (D.O.B. 2/5/99) of Brighton, who was in default on cases out of juvenile courts in Suffolk County and Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was held in custody today and will be transported to appear in those courts in the days to come. ERICK HERNANDEZ-JANDRES (D.O.B. 12/15/98) of Roxbury was arraigned for unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon, to wit: a machete. He was held on $25,000 cash bail.

Boston Police arrested the trio on the local charges after spotting them Friday on Royal Street in Allston and notified the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey, which on Sunday obtained a warrant for Ramires’ arrest. Ramires and his co-defendants will return to court on Sept. 25.

Separately, a 17-year-old Stow resident was arraigned in the Boston Juvenile Court for allegedly striking two pedestrians with a stolen vehicle in Brighton on Sunday morning. The young man, who is not being named because he is a juvenile, is charged with delinquency, to wit: unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a collision causing personal injury.

At the request of Assistant District Attorney Michelle Slade, Judge Michaela Stewart set bail at $15,000.

The juvenile was allegedly behind the wheel of a 2016 Nissan NV with commercial plates when he struck two women, ages 19 and 21, in the area of Washington Street and Dickinson Road just after 6:30 on Sunday evening. Both females suffered serious injuries and were transported to Boston hospitals. The juvenile allegedly left the van on foot followed by a witness, taking an MBTA bus to a Washington Street pub. The witness directed Boston Police to that location.

The juvenile was apprehended and passed a field sobriety test. Boston Police later contacted the registered owner of the van, who had seen it on the news and intended to report it stolen. The juvenile returns to court on Oct. 3.
