No Bail for Lynn Man Charged with Murder

A Lynn man was held without bail on charges that he shot and killed a 33-year-old Roxbury man outside the victim’s home in May, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

George Ortega (D.O.B. 2/19/83) was arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum told Judge Shannon Frisson that Ortega confronted Steven Fuentes on Leyland Street as part of an ongoing dispute, and when the two men faced off as if to fight, Ortega instead shot the victim multiple times with a handgun.? Ortega was implicated by witnesses and by surveillance video showing a person “consistent” with him, Polumbaum said. The motive for the dispute was not disclosed.

Ortega was represented by attorney Barry P. Wilson. He is due back in court on Oct. 4.
