No Bail For Second Man Charged in 2007 Double Murder

A Roslindale man was arraigned yesterday in Suffolk Superior Court and charged for his alleged role in the double murder of two men near the Franklin Hill housing development three years ago, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced.

STANLEY EARL JENKINS, Jr. (D.O.B. 4/18/83) was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and an one count of unlawful possession of a firearm for the July 12, 2007 fatal shooting of Jarrid Campbell and Jeff Jones. Clerk Magistrate Gary D. Wilson ordered Jenkins held without bail.

DONALD RAY WILLIAMS (D.O.B. 10/4/84) has also been charged in connection to the incident, and was arraigned for the same offenses in Superior Court on July 21, 2009.

Assistant District Attorney Masai-Maliek King told the court that Campbell and Jones were among about 150 people who attended a large, outdoor concert at Franklin Hill in the early evening. The event featured hip hop performances by local musicians, but was also attended by several area gang members.

As the evening progressed, King told the court, Jones became involved in a verbal argument with another partygoer. He and Campbell then went to the car Jones had driven to the event, which was parked near the intersection of Shandon Road and Fermoy Heights Avenue.

King said that at approximately 11:15 p.m. shortly after the two men got into the car, three gunmen approached the car on foot and fired multiple rounds at the two victims, killing both.

King told the court that witnesses identified Jenkins as one of the gunmen who fired at the two men. Subsequently, he said, Jenkins made statements allegedly implicating himself in the murders.

Jenkins is currently serving a federal prison sentence for unrelated narcotics offenses.

Jenkins was represented by attorney Robert Wheeler and will return to court on Jan. 6, 2011. A trial date for Williams has been scheduled for Feb. 15, 2011.
