No Bail in Fatal Tremont Street Stabbing

A man charged in the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Justin Albert was held without bail at his arraignment this morning as authorities seek the public’s help in identifying other potential suspects, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

STEVEN ROLLEY, 29, is charged with murder for the South End man’s death after he was stabbed at about 12:45 this morning near the intersection of Tremont and Cunard streets. Roxbury District Court Judge Kenneth Fiandaca granted Assistant District Attorney Ursula Knight’s recommendation that he be held without bail pending trial.

Rolley is alleged to be one of a group of men who approached Albert in the vicinity of 1050 Tremont St. Video surveillance from nearby cameras shows the group surrounding Albert, then dispersing in different directions while Albert falls to the ground, Knight said. A nearby security guard apprehended Rolley, who still had blood on his clothing, just moments after the incident, Knight said.

Albert was stabbed in the neck and stomach, causing injuries that claimed his life. He was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center a short time later.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470 or the anonymous CrimeStoppers tip line at 1-800-494-TIPS. Tipsters may also text their information by texting the word TIP to CRIME (27463).

Katherine Moran is the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocate. Rolley was represented today by attorney John Swomley. He will return to court on Oct. 6.
