No Bail in January Homicide

BOSTON, March 24, 2017— A Roxbury teen was ordered held without bail at his arraignment today in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Khisean Desvarieux in Roxbury, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

TYKORIE EVELYN (D.O.B. 12/2/99) of Roxbury was ordered held without bail at his arraignment today in Suffolk Superior Court on charges of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition. At the request of Assistant District Attorney David Bradley of the DA’s Homicide Unit, Clerk Magistrate Lisa Medeiros ordered Evelyn held without bail.

Under Massachusetts law, juveniles charged with murder are tried as adults.

Bradley told the court that Desvarieux was shot in the area of Dearborn and Eustis streets in Roxbury on Jan. 9. He stumbled into the Boys & Girls Club and collapsed.  He was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he died of his injuries a short time later.

Boston Police observed Evelyn nearby a short time after the shooting and attempted to speak with him. Evelyn, however, fled from officers.  He allegedly discarded a firearm before he was apprehended.

Prosecutors said physical evidence, witness statements, ballistic testing results, and other evidence link Evelyn to the fatal shooting.

Elise McConnell is the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocate. Evelyn is represented by Janice Bassil.  He returns to court May 2.
