One Arraigned in July Double Murder; Second Defendant Expected Tomorrow

A Mattapan man was held without bail today on charges that he murdered 24-year-old Billie Kee and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Kevin Thomas, in their Hyde Park apartment this summer, and his co-defendant is expected to face identical charges tomorrow, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

MICHAEL T. CORBIN (D.O.B. 11/10/78) was arraigned in West Roxbury District Court this afternoon on two counts of murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. Assistant District Attorney John Pappas, Conley’s chief trial counsel, recommended that he be held without bail. Judge Mary Ann Driscoll granted that request.

Pappas told the court that Kee and Thomas were shot to death inside their apartment at 957 Hyde Park Ave. at about midnight on July 26. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. A 3-year-old child was found unharmed in the rear of the apartment.

“Surveying the condition of the apartment, it was apparent that the perpetrators came looking for something,” Pappas said. “As it relates to Kevin Thomas, it is clear he was known to this defendant. That relationship appears to be rooted in the narcotics business.”

Pappas told the court that both the victims’ cell phones were taken from the apartment. A “detailed and continuing review” of phone records indicates that Corbin was in close proximity to the crime scene at around the time of the homicides, the prosecutor said.

“More importantly, evidence was found on items both inside and just outside the crime scene,” Pappas said. “Although the government, due to the ongoing nature of what has been a very intense investigation, cannot be more specific at this particular point, included among the items forensically linking the defendant to the scene is the murder weapon.”

Boston Police arrested Corbin earlier today after obtaining warrants for his arrest and that of EARL FULGIAM (D.O.B. 4/14/80), also of Mattapan. Fulgiam is currently at the Massachusetts Correctional Institute at Cedar Junction awaiting trial in Dorchester District Court on assault, drug, and motor vehicle offenses. He is expected to appear for arraignment in West Roxbury tomorrow.
