One Charged in Early Morning 93 South Crash

State Police detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office are investigating a single-car rollover on 93 Southbound in Dorchester that left the vehicle’s passenger in critical condition early this morning.

PATRICK FAY (D.O.B. 7/27/86) of Holbrook is charged with operating under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court tomorrow.

Fay’s passenger, a 25-year-old Weymouth woman, is in critical condition.

State Police assigned to the South Boston Barracks responded to Route 93 Southbound in the area of Columbia Road shortly before 1:00 this morning to find the victim’s 2002 Toyota Camry on its roof. The victim had been ejected from the vehicle and was suffering from grievous head injuries for which she was transported to Boston Medical Center.

Fay allegedly tried to flee the scene on foot and showed signs of intoxication upon his arrest several hundred feet away. He was placed in custody and later transported to Boston Medical Center for minor injuries.

Because of the life-threatening nature of the victim’s injuries, uniformed troopers notified the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit, which has jurisdiction over all death investigations on State roadways within the City of Boston. They are assisted in this case by the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
