Prosecutor: Motorist Pulls Gun in Alleged Road Rage Incident

BOSTON, March 26, 2015—A driver was arraigned yesterday on charges he pulled a gun on two pedestrians during an alleged road rage incident in Revere, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

JOHNNY VILLADA (D.O.B. 6/24/85) of Lynn was arraigned in Chelsea District Court yesterday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and making threats to commit a crime.  Assistant District Attorney Myriam Feliz requested that bail for Villada be set at $5,000.  Judge Michael Patten released him on his own recognizance.

State troopers received a report of threats made at gunpoint in Revere at approximately 10:20 Tuesday morning.  Responding troopers spoke with a 29-year-old Revere woman and a 33-year-old Revere man who reported that they became involved in a verbal altercation with the driver of a Toytota Rav4 that nearly struck them as they walked on a crosswalk at the intersection of Broadway and Revere Beach Parkway.  During the argument, the victims told police, the driver displayed a small black firearm and threatened to shoot them.

The victims were able to provide a description of the driver as well as the SUV, which bore a crooked Florida license plate.

As troopers spoke with the victims, additional troopers stopped Villada driving a vehicle that matched the provided description on Furlong Drive.  Located inside the vehicle was a Smith & Wesson .38 firearm, which Villada was properly licensed to possess and carry.  The victims were transported to the location and positively identified Villada as the man who had threatened them with a firearm.

Villada allegedly made statements to police denying that he had displayed the weapon during the altercation and claimed that he had been threatened with a knife by the male victim. Troopers searched the victim and found no weapon of any kind.

Authorities in Lynn were notified of Villada’s arrest for potential adverse action on his license to carry. Villada was represented by Pamela Harris-Daly.  He returns to court May 11.
