Revere Man in Custody For Injuries to Boy, 5

Revere Police and State Police detectives assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office today arrested a Revere man in connection with serious injuries to a 5-year-old boy.

JOSEPH TESTA (D.O.B. 5/19/82) was taken into custody this afternoon on charges of assault and battery on a child causing serious bodily injury, wantonly or recklessly permitting bodily injury to a child, and child endangerment. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court.

State troopers from the Revere barracks and emergency medical technicians responded to Revere Beach Parkway at about 10:30 a.m. to find the child unresponsive near his home with Testa, who is the child’s mother’s boyfriend. The boy was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was admitted for emergency surgery and remains in stable condition.

Because of the nature of the boy’s injuries, authorities notified the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit. Testa was placed under arrest amid the ongoing investigation and is expected to be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court.
