BOSTON, Nov. 14, 2016—The day a driver was arraigned for leaving the scene of a non-fatal hit-and-run in Chelsea, Police Chief Brian Kyes and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley released new images they hope will help detectives investigating a fatal collision earlier this year.

Chelsea Police and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying the operator of a 2007-2009 Toyota Camry SE, silver in color, with a sunroof and fog lights, that struck a pedestrian on the night of June 4 and left the scene. The vehicle is believed to have sustained damage to the front driver’s side during the collision, which took place in the area of 284 Washington St. just after 10:00 pm. The victim, 25-year-old Marco Salguero-Cruz of Chelsea, died of his injuries.

Investigators undertook a painstaking search for video evidence in the case and obtained footage that depicts a light-skinned Latino male, approximately 5’5”, with dark hair wearing a light blue or blue-and-white checked shirt. This male was present in the area of the Plaza Mexico Restaurant & Bar on Washington Street earlier that evening. Three photographs of this man and one photo of the vehicle are attached. At today’s arraignment for the non-fatal collision, ARNOLD HERNANDEZ (D.O.B. 5/27/91) of Chelsea was arraigned on charges of leaving the scene of a collision causing injury, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle for the Friday night incident that injured a 72-year-old woman near the intersection of Fourth Street and Broadway. Chelsea Police apprehended Hernandez on Saturday.

Assistant District Attorney Amanda Paull recommended that Hernandez be held on $10,000 cash bail. Chelsea District Court Judge Ina Howard Hogan imposed $2,000 bail and ordered him to return to court on Dec. 22.
