The second defendant charged in connection with the September slayings of a toddler and three adults was held without bail following his arraignment for their murders and a series of related offenses, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

DWAYNE MOORE (D.O.B. 6/25/77) of Mattapan was arrested last night by Boston Police homicide detectives on a warrant charging him with four counts of murder for the shooting deaths of Levaughn Washum-Garrison, Simba Martin, Eyanna Flonory, and her son, Amanihotep Smith, shortly after 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 28.

Moore is also charged with armed assault with intent to murder for the shooting of another man, age 32, who remains in grave condition. He is additionally charged with armed robbery, home invasion, and related firearms offenses. Dorchester District Court Judge James Coffey ordered Moore held without bail.

“Almost two months ago, we promised not to rest until all the facts were known,” Conley said. “With these charges, we’re significantly closer to that goal. But whatever satisfaction we may take in that knowledge pales in comparison to the pain etched on so many faces in Dorchester District Court. For dozens of family members and countless friends, there will be an empty seat at the table on Thanksgiving, on Christmas, and at birthdays and celebrations for years to come. This case will one day end, but the loss will continue for those left behind.”

Assistant District Attorney Edmond Zabin told Coffey that Moore and KIMANI WASHINGTON (D.O.B. 10/17/75) hatched a plan to commit an armed robbery and home invasion at Martin’s Sutton Street residence, where Moore had lived for part of this summer.

Moore and Washington knew one another from state prison, Zabin said. They allegedly went to Martin’s home armed.

“The defendant attempted to bring Simba Martin outside for the purpose of robbing him,” Zabin said, when the surviving victim arrived in a rented motor vehicle.

When Martin came outside to meet that man, Zabin said, the two victims were set upon. The defendants forced both victims into the residence at gunpoint and forced them to remove their clothes. Also inside the residence were Washum-Garrison, Flonory, and her 2-year-old child.

Moore and Washington allegedly took a safe, cash, drugs, and other items from the home. At some point thereafter, Zabin said, the victims were “marched up to Woolson Street,” where all of them were shot multiple times. Only Hurd survived. Washington allegedly fled in Hurd’s vehicle.

“Cell phone records show that the defendant contacted Simba Martin just before the incident,” Zabin said. “They also show the defendant contacted Kimani Washington after the incident.”

The two defendants allegedly met in the aftermath of the murders to split the robbery’s proceeds.

With the assistance of local and federal partners, Boston Police apprehended Washington in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Oct. 1. He has been held on $1 million cash bail since his arraignment on gun and drug charges and is due back in court on Dec. 3.
