BOSTON, Oct. 29, 2015—A Somerville man was arraigned today on charges he stabbed another man during an early morning fight in the North End, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

EVAN COBB (D.O.B. 2/16/93) was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carrying a dangerous weapon.  Assistant District Attorney Anthony Rizzo requested bail of $10,000; Judge Catherine Byrne released Cobb on his own recognizance.

Boston Police responded to the area Point bar on Hanover Street at approximately 1:13 a.m. for a report of a stabbing.  Upon their arrival, officers located Cobb, who was bleeding from a laceration over his right eye.

While speaking with Cobb outside, officers were informed of a stabbing victim inside the establishment.  Police followed a blood trail inside the bar and located a 32-year-old man lying on the floor with a stab wound to his neck.  Witnesses identified Cobb as the assailant, indicating that he and the victim had been involved in a verbal argument outside that led to a physical altercation.  One witness observed Cobb holding a knife behind his back during the fight, prosecutors said.

Officers found a folding knife clipped to Cobb’s back pocket.  He allegedly made post-Miranda statements indicating that he became involved in a physical altercation with the victim and pulled out a knife when the victim overpowered him in the fight.

The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with a stab wound to the throat and has since been released.  Cobb was transported to Tufts Medical Center with a laceration over his right eye, swollen lip, and minor cuts and scratches.

Cobb returns to court Jan. 7.
