State, Chelsea Police Investigating Fatal Shooting

BOSTON, Sept. 27, 2012—State Police detectives assigned to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office and Chelsea Police detectives are investigating a double shooting overnight that left one man dead.

Investigators have identified the deceased as a 34-year-old Chelsea man. His name is being withheld until his family can be located and notified. Also shot was a second Chelsea resident, a 37-year-old man. He is not being identified because he is the surviving victim of a violent crime.

Chelsea Police responded to the area of 28 Spencer Ave. for a call reporting a shooting. On arrival, they observed two men inside a vehicle, both suffering from gunshot injuries. Both were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where the 34-year-old victim succumbed to his wounds. The second victim is expected to survive.

Chelsea Police notified the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit, which has jurisdiction over death investigations in Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop, and State property within the City of Boston. Assisting were uniformed troopers from the Revere barracks and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
